Hello. My name is Joshua Kirk Dimick. This site is intended for use by my students to further understand mathematics and statistics concepts that I teach as a high school teacher. I hope that this site can develop into a really useful resource and tool. Let me tell you a little about your teacher:
High School Days:
I enjoyed my high school days and they had a big impact on my life and interests today. I enjoyed mathematics, chess, drawing, and reading (Harry Potter and most books by Orson Scott Card have effected me profoundly). In addition those "nerdy" things I did cross country running, ultimate Frisbee, hockey, lacrosse, some baseball, and some soccer. I also worked as a buss boy and later server.
Post-Secondary: After high school I spent two years in France for religious reasons before beginning university studies. I attended WSU briefly and then went to the University of Utah to play college club lacrosse which I did for 2 years. Realizing that I needed to get serious about learning something and running out of money I stopped playing lacrosse and discovered that I wanted to get a degree in mathematics education. I met and married my wife at the U and shortly afterward felt that I needed to transfer to Utah State University owing to what I had heard about their excellent teacher education programs. I graduated from USU in the December of 2015 and have been teaching mathematics and statistics since.
Mathematical thinking can be highly rewarding for those who indulge themselves the pleasure of delving into it unashamedly.
